National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Re-Launches Firefighter Life Safety Website

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation News Release

Emmitsburg, MD - Chief Ronald J. Siarnicki and the Board of Directors of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) along with the Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives (FLSI) Program Team are pleased and excited to announce the launch of a major revision to our website, www.EveryoneGoesHome.com. The revision moves the website closer towards the goal of being a unique, one-of-a-kind, source for firefighters seeking ways to reduce line-of-duty deaths and injuries. Some of the highlights of the revision are the inclusion of links to the Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives Program advocates, a reorganized resource page containing training drills, lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, media, and other valuable information devoted to firefighter safety, and a new feature which will allow attendees of Courage to Be Safe classes the ability to download and print certificates of attendance directly from the site.

We invite you to visit our website: www.EveryoneGoesHome.com and we welcome any suggestions or ideas on what you would like to see included. Please email us to share your thoughts and ideas.

You do not need to sign-up to receive this resource kit. A copy of the Firefighter Life Safety Resource Kit will be mailed to your department.

We would like to thank Fire Engineering magazine for stepping up to enable the launch of our initial website. Fire Engineering graciously hosted the website from its inception until the recent switch. Their tremendous support was recognized at the FDIC with a Seal of Excellence Award.

The NFFF and FLSI are also pleased to announce the completion of the Firefighter Life Safety Resource Kit, a video training resource package designed to provide resources to enable fire departments to significantly reduce firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries to ensure that "Everyone Goes Home®." The Kit consists of two DVDs and one CD and we anticipate shipment to over 30,000 U.S. fire departments in time for the Stand Down on June 21st. Watch the Firefighter Life Safety Resource Kit Preview to learn more about this unique resource.

Each year, more than 100 firefighters are killed, and 10,000 firefighters are seriously injured in the line of duty. In support of the United States Fire Administration's goal of reducing line-of-duty deaths by 25% by 2009 and 50% by 2014, the Foundation created the Everyone Goes Home® program, and called upon the fire service leadership to develop what became the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives.

Using the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives as a platform, this breakthrough program provides an inspiring and educational blueprint for creating a safer fire service culture and stemming the tide of fire service line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

The Everyone Goes Home® program is funded through a FIRE Act grant, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and through the generosity of Fireman's Fund Insurance Company.
