Bill Heusler, a clinical psychology graduate student, is conducting his doctoral research on psychological traumatic stress in firefighters and firefighter/paramedics. He is donating $10.00 each for the first 100 men and the first 100 women who are firefighters or firefighter/paramedics to NFFF (up to $2,000.00).
Bill is a student at the Washington School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Seattle, Washington. He developed an interest in traumatic stress in first responders based on his own experiences as a former police officer.
He reports that response from men in the fire service has been good thus far. Women in the fire service are encouraged to participate so that gender specific issues might also be assessed.
Firefighters who are interested in participating may find out more information on the research website at www.billheusler.com. You may also call Bill at 206-909-7633 or contact him by email at mndshr@comcast.net with any questions or to participate.
