Courage to Be Safe Train-the-Trainer
Passaic County Fire Academy - Passaic County, NJ
This course is an interactive presentation based upon the 16 Life Saving Initiatives as developed by the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. This course is specifically designed for the New Jersey Fire Service and will examine statistics and causes of New Jersey Firefighter Line of Duty Deaths from 1984 to 2006. This course was specifically created to educate and enlighten all levels of the New Jersey Fire Service. This is a cooperative effort between the National Fallen firefighter Foundation, the New Jersey Society of Fire Service Instructors and the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety. At the heart of "The Courage to Stay Safe" are the gripping, untold stories of LODD survivors, revealing how family members must live with the consequences of a firefighter death. The program graphically underscores the need for firefighters and officers to change fundamental attitudes and behaviors in order to prevent line of duty deaths, and promotes the courage to do the right thing so that "Everyone Goes Home®" at the end of the day.
