Michael ChiapperiniDied On: December 24, 2012Incident Description: Michael Chiapperini was shot and killed Christmas Eve morning when responding to a house and car fire. Chiapperini and Firefighter Tomasz Kaczowka were fatality shot, two other firefighters were injured, when a convicted felon opened fire on the crew as they arrived on the scene. Chiapperini, a dedicated servant within his community, was a lieutenant with the Webster Police Department and had served as volunteer Fire Chief of the West Webster Fire Department. Just two weeks before his death, Chiapperini had been honored with Firefighter of the Year.
